27TH ANNUAL HOLLYWOOD WELCOMES THE STARS
The 27th Annual “Hollywood Welcomes the Stars” benefiting the Marti Huizenga Boys & Girls Club was held on Friday, October 25 at the Signature Grand, in Davie, FL. This year’s star-studded event featured red carpet arrivals which included Isaac Bruce, BGCBC Alumni and former NFL superstar, Michael Moorer, 3-time World Boxing Champion and former NFL star Andre Reed. Andre was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2014, as well as the Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s Hall of Fame in 2015. Andre volunteers his time as an ambassador for Boys & Girls Clubs kids, by visiting local Clubs wherever he goes and is grateful for this honor alongside the likes of Denzel Washington, Jennifer Lopez, Magic Johnson and many other Club alumni.
The night also included a lavish buffet, live & silent auctions as well as a raffle where the main prize was a diamond bracelet which was graciously donated by Morningstar’s Jewelry.
There was also a special presentation of the Caryl Boies Keystone Leadership award to Angelina M, a well deserving teen BGCBC member.
Preston C. Howell, current contestant on ‘The Voice’ and Alyssa Marie, country singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, performed a beautiful version of “Some Where over the Rainbow” to close the event.
Over 1,200 youth belong to the Marti Huizenga Boys & Girls Club, located in Hollywood. The well-trained and committed staff leads a wide range of programs in the areas of Academic Success, Good Character & Citizenship, and Healthy Lifestyles. The Club is a safe and positive place for children ages 6-18 years of age.
