UNITED, BRAVE, GET LOUD!
Boys & Girls Clubs of America – National Keystone Conference
Eleven of our outstanding Keystone Club members attended the 57th National Keystone Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. This year’s theme was “United, Brave, Get Loud!” The National Keystone Conference is the Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s main event for teens. It offers Keystoners positive leadership experiences, allowing them to engage with peers, discuss important teen issues, and develop skills for leadership and service in their Clubs and communities.
Our Keystoners and advisors joined sessions that addressed key teen issues, promoted community service, encouraged inclusion, and helped teens improve their local Clubs. The conference featured fun and interactive experiences focusing on academic success, healthy lifestyles, and career exploration, inspiring Keystoners to follow their passions!
Keystoners participated in various service projects including:
• Creating Positive Affirmation Bracelets and Care Packages for Foster Youth
• Repurposing T-Shirts into Dog Toys for Local Animal Shelters
• Designing Positive Message Canvases and Hats for Mental Health Awareness
As a special surprise for all their hard work, our members were selected to meet actor and singer, Corbin Bleu!
The trip culminated with a little fun at Six Flags!
Northrop & Johnson Visit
Northrop & Johnson opened its doors to share a unique experience with our members, in an effort to expose and inspire the youth toward career opportunities in the yachting industry, N&J invited the attendees, all high school seniors who are actively seeking future career opportunities post-graduation, to explore its Fort Lauderdale office and marina facilities, including a guided tour of Lauderdale Marine Center and detailed learning sessions. This special event gave our teens a front-row view into a variety of departments, from sales and charter retail to yacht management, crew services and marketing. Representatives from N&J had the opportunity to share their unique experiences, answer questions and provide a glimpse into what a promising career looks like in the maritime industry. Northrop & Johnson will be donating (1) scholarship to (1) Club member who would like to attend the beginner’s program at Maritime Professional Training (MPT), where they will become certified and eligible to apply for various positions in the industry after they graduate from high school.
