Director of Club Experiences and Community Outreach (DCECO)

REPORTS TO:  Senior Director of Club Operations

GENERAL FUNCTION:

The DCECO is responsible for enhancing the exposure of BGCBC in the respective communities by having presence in town / community / municipalities, through meetings / events, etc.  improving community relations in all communities where BGCBC is present.

The DCECO is responsible for working directly with Club Directors to ensure Clubs are maximizing their Average Daily Attendance (ADA) and membership numbers, along with delivering quality daily programs This position is also responsible for the operations to the under – performing Clubs.

  

JOB SEGMENT:

  • 1. Oversight of programs in respective Clubs for quality control
  • 2. Make sure all Clubs maintain or exceed their daily ADA numbers and membership numbers.
  • 3. Assist in preparation and adherence to budget.
  • 4. Make periodic reports to the Senior Director of Club Operations.
  • 5. Oversight of all program activities.
  • 6. Foster good public relations through Community involvement and presentations to Civic Groups, etc.
  • 7. Work with Club Directors in all areas of his/her direct responsibility.
  • 8. Provide leadership for the development of new and innovative programs.
  • 9. Assist Administrative Office in special projects and assignments as needed.
  • 10. Require and review written activity plans for Directors.
  • 11. Attending multi-agency community meetings as directed by the Senior Director of Club Operations.
  • 12. Work in conjunction with the BGCBC’s marketing department in representing the BGCBC in local communities.
 
 

 

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

TECHNICAL:   

  • Assists with maximizing the ADA and Club membership, including Saturday programming
  • Formulates proposals, need lists, and prepare cost projections.
  • Possesses knowledge of rules and regulations regarding Club operations.
  • Plans, organizes and conducts academic, good citizenship & healthy lifestyle activities and programs.
  • Possesses knowledge of development stages in youth and plan programs accordingly.
  • Achieves deliverables, as well as creates reports and meets deadlines.
  • Applies First Aid Techniques.
 

 

MANAGERIAL: 

  • Develops leadership skills in other Club Staff as requested.
  • Supervises and trains staff when needed.
  • Work in conjunction with Teen Programming staff.
  • Maintains accurate records- Financial, Membership, Program, Guidance, etc.
  • Interprets goals and objectives of the organization to the Club staff.
  • Presents a professional image to the community.
  • Utilizes program evaluation and activity forms.
  • Plans, delegates, and follows up on various projects.
  • Possesses initiative, and creative thinking regarding program and General Club development and is able to advise high level quality programming in clubs as requested.

      2. Good Citizenship and Character
      3. Healthy Lifestyles

 

HUMAN RELATIONS:

  • Counsels staff, members, and parents.
  • Maintains discipline, and control building.
  • Relates to Community, Board and Parents as well as youth members.
  • Serves as an advocate for the rights and good of the members.
  • Instills enthusiasm and good character traits in the members.
  • Presents Boys & Girls Club Programs in a favorable light to Civic Groups, Boards, , and the General Public.
  • Utilizes the skills of others in achieving the goals of the Boys & Girls Clubs.
 

In addition to the specific professional job duties, the DPQCR must also possess the ability to:

  • Move throughout activity area without disrupting youth traffic flow and activities.
  • Handle a variety of tasks at one time correctly.
  • Recognize and react quickly to problems- arguing, fighting, horseplay, and stop the undesirable activity quickly.
  • Work in any department within the Club on an emergency basis to maintain a safe environment.
  • Drive organization vehicles, such as 15 passenger vans, buses, etc.
  • Manage Club Finances.
  • Understand and work within department budgets.
  • Communicate in person, on the telephone, in print via email or texting.
  • Work in non-air conditioned or heated facilities and provide supervision on outdoor playgrounds.
  • Immediately correct safety concerns, (water on floor, stove left on, equipment not stored correctly, doors left unlocked, etc.)
  • Answer telephone and communicate with caller in a professional and effective manner.
  • Pick up needed supplies from stores and or administrative office and bring them to Club.
 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

4-year degree from an accredited institution preferred or youth development or a related field with a minimum of three to five (3 – 5) years’ experience with Boys & Girls Clubs or similar organization.

Full Time plus benefits

Salary:  $70,000 / year
